Sunburned Hand of the Man’s Ron Schneiderman pours a heavy shot with the El Paraiso vanguard for a deeply soaked, intoxicating session. Brewed in the concrete cask of a Cold War bomb shelter, it’s distilled through massive fuzz and subterranean echoes.
What began as a spontaneous 2014 Copenhagen duo between Danish synth/guitarist Rasmus Rasmussen (Causa Sui) and Schneiderman has fermented into a sprawling four-piece. Expanding their transatlantic roots, the duo enlisted El Paraiso stalwarts Nicklas Sørensen (Papir) on guitar and Jakob Skøtt (Causa Sui). Following a fiery 2024 live reunion at Copenhagen’s DIY stronghold Mayhem—where Skott handled synths before switching to the drum kit for the recording—the quartet finally bottled their momentum during a summer 2026 session, tracking live inside an underground dome cast concrete bunker.
Taking their moniker from an obscure 1995 Vermont horror novel, the group serves up a cosmic atmosphere blended into a dark, swirling stout of heavy psych, krautrock, and ambient drone. Bypassing fixed notation, the band operates on pure sonic intuition—a heady, top-shelf exercise in real-time observation where performers pour out an immediate intimacy.
This debut translates raw, unfiltered improvisation into a fully realized recording. It is a twelve-year dialogue captured at peak potency, expanding into massive sonic shadows and leaving a heavy, lingering aftertaste meant to be drunk in slowly.
